Committee involvement allows our members a way to get involved in ABC Pelican Chapter and an avenue through which their voices can be heard. To become involved in a committee, all you have to do is express your interest to the below-mentioned ABC contact. Most committees also have an open-door policy allowing you to sit in on a committee meeting even if you are not a committee member. Budget & Finance Committee
Responsible for providing an analysis of the expenditures of the previous fiscal period, preparing a budget for the succeeding fiscal year and making recommendations to the Board of Directors in updating the current budget.

Governmental Relations Committee
Responsible for maintaining records of all legislative and legal matters of concern to the growth and promotion of merit shop, the dissemination of this information to the general membership as required and encouraging action on the part of the general membership in legislative matters.

Education & Manpower Committee
Meeting: Second Thursday of Every Month; 2:00 p.m. in ABC Training Center

Membership Development Committee
The purpose of this committee is to recruit, retain, welcome and involve members for this association by employing new and innovative ideas and programs.

Commercial Contractors Council
This council addresses the needs of the commercial contractor members of the chapter. Guest speakers regularly address the members on topics of interest to the membership.

Programs & Events Committee
This committee is responsible for planning the general membership and special events hosted by the Pelican Chapter.

Safety Committee
This committee is responsible for continually updating the membership on any new or revised standards and regulations, to provide oversight and review on all Pelican Chapter safety training and to promote the ABC National S.T.E.P. Awards program.

Southwest Louisiana Steering Committee
Responsible for the growth and promotion of the merit philosophy in the Southwest Louisiana area, including programs, events, legislative matters and training opportunities.
Meeting: Second Tuesday of Every Month; 11:30 p.m. in Westlake

North Louisiana Steering Committees
Responsible for the growth and promotion of the merit shop philosophy in the Northern part of the state. In charge of recruiting new members to the Pelican Chapters, establishing benefits and programs to current members, and keeping them informed of the Pelican Chapter's activities in various parts of Louisiana.
Meeting: Northwest Steering Committee Meets the Third Wednesday of each month at 10:30 AM at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport. Northeast Steering meets every other month at 12:00 in Monroe.

Everyone should be able to find a committee which suits them. Please call me if you have any questions about these opportunities. The more participants we have on these committees, the more accurate ABC's voice will be. Please lend your expertise and talents to ABC. President Theodore Roosevelt is quoted as saying, "Every man owes a part of his time and money to the business or industry in which he is engaged. No man has moral right to withhold his support from an organization that is striving to improve conditions within his sphere."
