“We must do a better job at educating the next generation about the opportunities available for them in the construction industry, and that is the main goal of Build Your Future Day” said David Helveston, President and CEO of the Pelican Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. “More than 1,000 high school students will be learning about the many career pathways available for them in the construction industry. I am honored by the number of Louisiana contractors, industry professionals, suppliers, and other educational entities that have partnered with us and want to thank each of them for volunteering their time and expertise to educate these students.”
What: October is Careers in Construction Month. To celebrate, ABC will host a half-day learning event at Lamar Dixon Expo Center for ninth and tenth grade high school students from across Louisiana to learn about the many career opportunities available in the construction industry.
Who: Approximately 1,000 ninth and tenth grade students from 60 Louisiana high schools as well as volunteer construction industry experts and contractors.
When: Wednesday, October 17, 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
