The purpose of the Young Professionals Committee is to foster the development of young leaders in the construction industry and ABC Pelican Chapter, while encouraging networking and peer-to-peer relationship development.
WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?
ABC Pelican contractor members under the age of 40, registered prior to March 15
Non-contractor members under the age of 40 who are nominated and approved by the Executive YP Committee. Limited to one (1) nomination per non-contractor member company per year.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Be recognized by the association as a rising leader in the industry
Participate in community involvement opportunities: Mid City Redevelopment Alliance, Mayor's Workforce Experience, Touch A Truck, LSU Construction Management Competition, etc.
Attend quarterly Young Professionals events and engagements: Each event consists of an educational session as well as a networking opportunity
Build rapport with industry and community leaders
Grow relationships amongst peers in the industry, business community and within the association
WHAT'S THE NOMINATION PROCESS?
Nominations open in the Fall each year. Nominations are required for non-contractor members under the age of 40. These nominations must be submitted by the last week of November annually. Nominations are limited to one (1) per non-contractor member company annually.

WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS?
YP Executive Committee: Monthly meetings to discuss relevant topics and plan general YP Membership events. Must be nominated to sit on YP Executive Committee.
General YP Membership: Four to five events per year. Each event features a guest speaker who speaks on the importance of ABC in their respective careers as well as networking/social event.
LSU Construction Management Competition Team: Serve as mentors to LSU construction management students competing in the annual ABC Construction Management Competition. Members work side by side with students, and use their on-the-job experience to help the students prepare.
Political Advocacy: Promote political advocacy and grassroots efforts of ABC. Members focus on fundraising for the ABC PAC and Free Enterprise Alliance, and support the grassroots efforts of the chapter as needed.
Membership: Engage, recruit and retain members in both the YP committee and chapter membership. Members sit on the membership growth committee and develop relationships to ensure lasting success from inside and outside of the Pelican Chapter member family.
ABC National Young Professional Program: Receive benefits offered through the ABC National Young Professional program. Members can attend ABC National events at a discounted rate and participate in the YP tracks offered at ABC National events.
