Local ABC Contractor Members Receive National Safety Recognition
 
BATON ROUGE, La. (10/28/15) – The Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) recognized 33 contractor members with the prestigious Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) awards at the quarterly Industrial Contractor Council luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015.
 
Established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee, STEP is an organized approach for analyzing and developing safety and loss prevention programs. The Key Component System forms a 20-point guide to starting, updating or auditing a company-wide safety program.

The Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) was incorporated in 1980 and has grown to over 500 members, covering 52 parishes ­in Louisiana. It has developed into a statewide, diverse, non-profit, trade association of contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and associates who have joined together to advance the construction industry by aggressively supporting their mission, to promote and protect the Merit Shop Philosophy and the principles of the free enterprise system in the construction industry. ABC PACs Endorse Legislative Candidates
 
BATON ROUGE, LA (10/13/15) – On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, ABC Merit PAC, the political action committee of the Associated Builders and Contractors New Orleans/Bayou Chapter, and ABC Pelican PAC, the political action committee of the Associated Builders and Contractors Pelican Chapter, announced several endorsements for the 2015 fall Legislative elections.
The ABC Merit PAC and ABC Pelican PAC support candidates for elective state or local office within the state of Louisiana who embrace the basic principles of our American system of government, the free enterprise system and the merit shop philosophy. The purpose of the ABC PACs is to support candidates who have committed to fight for a more prosperous economy and a higher standard of living for the people of Louisiana through the growth of a vibrant merit shop construction industry within the State; candidates that will leverage Louisiana’s unique advantages to raise families and gain positive returns on business opportunities.
 
Multiple factors were used during the candidate evaluation process which led to the endorsement of the following candidates:

  • Representative Lenar Whitney (R - Houma, House District 53)

  • Representative Steve Carter (R - Baton Rouge, House District 68)
  • Paula Davis (R - Baton Rouge, House District 69)
  • Ryan Heck (R - Baton Rouge, House District 69)
  • Hunter Carter (D - Greensburg, House District 72)
  • Representative Nick Lorusso (R - New Orleans, House District 94)
