Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST) Training

The Baton Rouge and Southwest Training Centers offer a Construction Site Safety Technician course as part of its regular, evening classes. The course provides instructions on how to implement and administer a company's safety program. It also provides rules and safeguards you need to work safely on any job site. Contact either training center for more information.

Safety Committees

The Pelican Chapter offers its members two safety committees: the Baton Rouge Safety Committee and the Southwest Safety Committee. Each meet on a monthly basis at the Baton Rouge and Westlake offices, and members of the committees discuss latest OSHA updates, share best practices and give safety professionals an opportunity to use each other as a resource to better the safety programs across South Louisiana.

National Safety Excellence Award

The ABC National Safety Excellence Awards recognize companies who exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety and whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. Awards are based on data submitted via STEP applications, essay questions and video interviews with company Presidents/CEOs/Principals about their corporate safety culture. Award categories are based on a company's total work-hours per calendar year and placement within the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).  ​

​STEP: Safety Training Evaluation Process

Established in 1989, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) serves as a valuable tool for ABC members to consistently build upon their safety training programs and gain recognition for their outstanding efforts. Safety Moment of the Month

Each month, the Pelican Chapter Safety Committees meet and determine a Safety Moment of the Month. This safety moment is what kicks off every Pelican Chapter committee meeting during the month, including the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. We encourage the committee members to pass along and share with their employees and colleagues.

ABC National Safety Resources

ABC National has over 70 chapters located across the United States. ABC helps members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically, profitably and for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work. Safety is a top priority for ABC, and they provide free resources for ABC members to build award-winning safety programs.
